Taunton Sears Set to Close

There's another round of stores closures coming to Sears Holdings and the Taunton store is on the chopping block.

Sears has been a struggling retailer for some time, closing hundreds of stores across the country over the last year. And the latest round of store closings are hitting close to home on the SouthCoast.

The company announced that another 13 Kmart locations and 33 Sears stores will be shutting their doors after being deemed "unprofitable."

And the Sears inside Silver City Galleria in Taunton is one of those stores.

The Taunton Sears is set to close for good by the end of November.

If you're looking for deals before the Sears at Silver City Galleria closes, don't wait too long. The company says liquidation sales could start as soon as August 30.

So if you want that riding mower you've always dreamed of or are looking to score a sweet backyard patio set, now may be a great time to stop in at Sears and see what kind of discount you can get.

As for the employees of the soon to be closed store, some will be eligible for a severance package and some will have the opportunity to apply for jobs at other Kmart and Sears locations. Though it doesn't seem like there are many of those left--at least locally.
