A bill state education officials want to see passed by month's end to execute a deal between New Bedford and a charter school hit a speed bump Thursday.
New Bedford Public Schools has announced adjusted boundaries within the district to accommodate a new, state-mandated Commonwealth Alma del Mar charter school.
The school has applied for 1,188 more charter school seats and two new schools within the city, just two years after opening its new campus on Belleville Avenue.
On Monday, the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved a request for Alma del Mar Charter School to expand its enrollment by 90 students.
