All New Bedford beaches have reopened to swimming on Friday.

The City's Health Department says water samples collected from all municipal beaches indicate that water quality is safe for swimming to resume.

All beaches in New Bedford were closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to elevated bacteria levels caused by recent rainfall.

Some beaches were reopened Thursday, but others remained closed as testing at those locations indicated that water quality was not yet safe enough for swimming to resume.

However, officials say testing conducted on Friday indicated that it was safe for swimming to resume at all beaches in New Bedford.

The New Bedford Health Department says that city health officials will continue to monitor water quality at all municipal beaches for any significant changes.
