In a press conference held Monday morning, Fall River Mayor Sam Sutter proposed creating a new sanitation fee for all city households. The fee would cost households $120 per year in addition to residents having to purchase the Pay As You Throw bags currently required for trash removal.

According the press release from Mayor Sutter's office, the fee would help make the city's sanitation fund self-sufficient. Without it, the sanitation division would be operating at a nearly $4 million deficit in the coming fiscal year.
