NEW BEDFORD — A report of a suspicious package at a downtown bank proved unfounded Tuesday.

In the early afternoon, New Bedford Police received a report of a suspicious package in the area of the Bank of America, located at the corner of Pleasant and Elm Streets.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing New Bedford Police and Fire Department, as well as the Dartmouth Police, and an ambulance at the scene, with police tape roping off the area.

New Bedford Police tell WBSM News there was nothing suspicious found.
