DARTMOUTH - A Providence, R.I., woman is under arrest after allegedly using pepper spray against a loss prevention employee as she was being detained for shoplifting.

Dartmouth Police were called to Macy's at the Dartmouth Mall early Monday afternoon for a report of two female shoppers involved in an altercation with loss prevention personnel. Police say the two women were being detained for suspicion of shoplifting when one of the suspects, Ruby Mena, 29, of Providence, sprayed a male loss prevention employee in the face with pepper spray.

Police arrested Mena and charged her with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
