PLYMOUTH - A shooting involving Plymouth Police leaves one man hospitalized.

Authorities say Plymouth Police officers responded to a domestic dispute at around 6:10 p.m. Thursday in the 600-block of Federal Furnace Road. Reports indicated that a 36-year-old male at that address had fired shots into a vehicle that his 41-year-old wife was in. The woman fled the scene before police arrived.

At that time, the man allegedly came out of the house and began shooting at police. Gunfire between the suspect and police was exchanged, injuring the suspect. First responders performed CPR on the man while waiting for a medflight to arrive. The suspect, who is known to police, was flown to a Boston-area hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

No officers were injured during the shootout, but seven were transported from the scene for precautionary reasons.

No names have been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
