TAUNTON - Taunton Police say they have arrested a man in connection to a string of recent robberies across Northern Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.

Miguel Gonzalez, 19, of Stoughton, who is wanted for a stabbing and a robbery over the weekend in East Providence, is also believed to be connected to four other robberies in East Providence, Pawtucket, Taunton, and Raynham.

Miguel was being sought by Taunton Police for the armed robbery that occurred on December 6 at the CVS located at 284 Winthrop Street, Taunton.

On December 3, the Pawtucket Police Department responded to an armed robbery of a liquor store.

A short time later on that same date the East Providence Police Department responded to an armed robbery of a liquor store during which a 68-year-old man who was a customer in the store at the time was stabbed by one of the suspects resulting in serious injuries.

On December 5, the Raynham Police Department responded to a gas station/convenience store for an armed robbery.

Detectives from Taunton, Raynham, East Providence and Pawtucket Police Departments were able to determine through a collaborate effort that the suspects in each robbery were the same two suspects.

The information obtained from each agency was disseminated throughout the Police Departments.

Last evening with the information available to our Uniform Patrol Division, one of our officers observed a dark Nissan Maxima travelling on Weir Street consistent with the information supplied by Detectives.

As a result of that stop, officers were able to identify the operator of that vehicle as one of the suspects.

The suspect was arrested, transported to the Taunton Police Department where he was held on $1 million bail.

He is being arraigned in Taunton District Court for the charges in Taunton.

The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office is seeking an arrest warrant for the charges in Rhode Island.
