I will be the first to admit that I am not the biggest sports fan in the world. Nevertheless, I was a fan of Stuart Scott.

Scott became a broadcast giant and very successful, the same way great radio personalities and radio stations become successful at what they do. Stuart became a giant by making the game, the player, the team, and most importantly, the viewers of ESPN the star. He left his ego at the door when the On Air light was on.

As a broadcaster, I was sad to hear the news that he has lost his long battle with cancer. Rest In Peace Mr. Scott.

ESPN President John Skipper issued this statement:

The sports world mourns the death of longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott on Sunday and recognized his groundbreaking role as a sportscaster who embraced a more personal and friendlier style our broadcasting family and everyone in the sports world have lost a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure in Stuart Scott. He leaves a void that can never be replaced.”
