I have lived here on the Southcoast for nearly 20 years, but I saw something that I've never seen before.  I had to pull over in Westport when I saw it.  I had to take a picture of a HUGE FORK in the road...not so coincidentally placed at the fork of Old Harbor Road and River Road.

It got me thinking about some of the weirder landmarks here on the Southcoast.

New Bedford has this "thing" in front of the Federal Building.  I believe it is called the Sea Flower...a piece of modern art.  The art has been there since the 70's...but I guess it's still too modern for me...I don't get it.

Mattapoisett has "Salty The Seahorse". He's perfectly normal to someone who lives in the Tri-Town area, but to outsiders...he can be borderline creepy (especially when his green eyes light up).

Acushnet Cow

Acushnet has a cow on Main Street that used to belong to the famed Hilltop Steakhouse. If you've ever wondered how the cow ended up in Acushnet, I wrote about it last fall. Click here to read about the cow.

Witch Rock Rochester

I think the strangest landmark can be found in Rochester. No, I'm not talking about Witch Rock (pictured to the right). I'm talking about these horses that can be seen just down New Bedford Road. It's hard to completely see from the street...but am I crazy...or is one of them anatomically correct. I've always thought it...but never expressed it. If not...I feel very embarrassed. If so...WHY? Take a look next time you drive by it. See what you think. What are some of the strange Southcoast landmarks I missed? Email me your pics!!! Send them to rock@fun107.com, and I'll share them on Fun 107.com.
