A new report says there has been progress, but women here in Massachusetts are still paid less than men for equal positions. Based on current trends, women in the Bay State won't see equal pay until the year 2056.

The latest report, done by the Institute For Women's Research Policy was released last month. It says women in Massachusetts earn just 81 cents for each dollar a man in the same job earns.

The report also found that if women in the Commonwealth were paid equally, their poverty rate would be reduced by more than half, and the poverty rate for single working moms would drop by nearly three-quarters.
