The investigation into the murder of retired Fairhaven teacher Joyce Howland continues. On Friday, State Police were searching a couple of areas of Fairhaven, apparently looking for evidence in the case.

According to the D-A's office, police searched a shed at Fairhaven Lumber on Alden Road.  They also searched the woods along Route 240, not far from Route 6.   Six officers wearing vests reading "police" were seen in the area.

Howland's body was found in her Hamlet Street home Tuesday morning by a friend who could not reach her on the phone.   The D-A's office has since ruled her death a homicide, but has not said how she died.
