You hear this often, "When we were kids, this kind of behavior was un-acceptable.  My parents would have killed me if I acted out like this in school with my teachers."  But today, does it seem like bad behavior in our schools is the norm?

There is a great article at southcoasttoday.com about the realities of student discipline today in our Southcoast schools.  Should teachers and administrators always take into consideration the child's home life, or lack there of when it comes to deciding what type of punishment they get for grossly misbehaving in school?  Or should all the children be disciplined the same regardless of what is going on in their homes?

Is it Joey's fault that he pushed over a desk in class when his teacher asked him to be quiet and finish his assignment?  After all, he has been in foster care since his mothers most recent drug overdose and arrest.  Or, should Joey be held accountable for his actions no matter what?

There are a large number of us with school age kids here on the Southcoast who say the level of disruptive behavior with these children and our schools is at it's worse.  We'd like to know what you think.
