No injuries reported in a fire Tuesday on Swift Road in South Dartmouth, but firefighters from the District One station spent four hours at the scene.

The fire was reported around 7:30am at 17 Swift Road. Fire Chief Brad Ellis says the fire was located on the second floor in the rear of the single-family home.

He tells WBSM News, the fire was a challenge for firefighters. "Once the fire crews hit the second floor, the fire was just rolling over the ceiling and coming at them," said Ellis.

"Great job by these guys hitting that fire, and driving it back into the room of origin and out the back windows."

Ellis says three adult occupants were safely outside the building when firefighters arrived.

The Chief described damage as extensive. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by District One investigators and the State Fire Marshall.
