New Year's Eve can be one of the most dangerous nights of the year to drive, especially if you've been drinking. To help keep our roads safe, South Coast Towing will be offering free rides to intoxicated people tonight.

It's a program that South Coast Towing does each year since 2002. Their "Safe Rides Home" program kicks off tonight after the ball drops (1 a.m.) and continues until 4 a.m. Intoxicated drivers will be driven home safely with their cars in tow.

If you or someone you are with needs a tow tonight, you are encouraged to call (508) 995-9777. Local bars and restaurants hosting New Year's Eve parties are encouraged to take full advantage of this program to make sure their customers get home safely.

Rides can also be requested via the South Coast Towing app. Just click on the "Safe Ride Home" button and the free service can be arranged.

Free rides will be offered in the following towns:

  • New Bedford
  • Fall River
  • Acushnet
  • Fairhaven
  • Dartmouth
  • Freetown
  • Westport
  • Somerset
  • Dighton
  • Berkley
  • Swansea
