Slurpee waves are probably not an official weather term, but it really is the only way to describe the way beaches across the area look these days. See the photos for yourself.

Here on the Southcoast we know it has been COLD! The string of snow days and below freezing days has not been a favorite for me (to say the least), but there are some cool things that have come from all of this cold.

And one of them is definitely the appearance of slurpee waves at area beaches.

As you can see from some of these Twitter photos, the cold weather has turned even the ocean to a mix of water and ice!

It's hard to believe that it could be so cold that even saltwater ocean waves could start to freeze, but that is exactly what is happening out there.

All along Nantucket people are capturing the slurpee waves crashing ashore and even though you know it means it's freezing cold out...the pictures look pretty cool.

So have you see any slurpee waves out along the Southcoast? Would you head to the beach to try and see some?
