We may all be sick of looking at snow, but it seems to have come in handy for the police. Especially in Lakeville, where it helped catch a couple of burglars.

imprint of license plate led police to burglars

Seems all the snow and ice still sitting on the sides of the roads managed to act like a copy machine and catch an imprint of a license plate that led police to a couple of burglars recently.

According to The Enterprise in Brockton, while a Lakeville officer was looking for clues after a recent house break-in, he noticed the license plate imprint in a snowbank. It proved legible and led police back to a pickup truck that matched the description of a vehicle seen at other break-ins.

They then traced the truck to a Dartmouth hotel where officers found a room occupied by Robert Beaucaire and Amy Peters with more than 300 stolen items in it, including jewelry, watches, wallets, laptops and cameras. Police estimate over $10,000 worth of goods was uncovered.

Beaucaire and Peters are both facing charges including larceny and breaking and entering.
