NEW BEDFORD - Police responded to a report of shots fired in New Bedford's North End early Thursday morning.

According to scanner reports, the city's ShotSpotter system was activated at the corner of North Front and Nye Streets shortly after 12 a.m.

At least one vehicle was struck by gunfire, though no injuries were reported.

Police recovered five shell casings in the area of 335 North Front Street.

Police continue to search for a suspect.
