Sheriff Hodgson Calls for Arrests of Sanctuary City Leaders, Slams Brockton State Rep. [VIDEO]

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson has testified before a Congressional subcommittee on the dangers of illegal immigration in the United States.

Hodgson highlighted his written report on the subject to the Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, saying national security is compromised when criminal illegal immigrants are allowed to roam free.

Sheriff Hodgson railed against the notion of sanctuary cities, saying any such community is potentially aiding and abetting dangerous criminals. "If these sanctuary cities are going to harbor and conceal criminal illegal aliens from ICE, which is in direct violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Code, federal arrest warrants should be issued for their elected officials," said Hodgson.

Hodgson touted his department's recent enrollment in the federal 287G partnership, while also slamming Brockton State Representative Michelle Dubois for posting a message to Facebook alerting residents that ICE would be conducting raids in the city. Hodgson called Representative Dubois' actions "outrageous," saying she is undermining the efforts of law enforcement. "And that elected official, who is responsible for protecting the welfare of the people in their communities, needs to understand that they could be protecting someone who ICE is looking for that may be possibly connected to terrorism, trans-national gangs, or some other horrific criminal history that they've had."

On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and other law enforcement officials will convene at the Department of Homeland Security to discuss illegal immigration enforcement, with a similar conference taking place Thursday at the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee.
