If you've ever been the victim of a bullying, you will certainly be able to relate to this story.

I think everyone, at some point in their life, has been the victim of a bully, physically or emotionally.  I know for me it started in middle school.  I was always the 'quiet girl,' and a lot of kids interpreted that as an 'easy target.'  I was.  I was very shy, afraid of getting in trouble and didn't know how to stand up for myself.

Kids, mostly girls, picked on me for everything and anything.  Looking back, I find it hard to believe that being tall, wearing glasses or not having a boyfriend, were reasons to make fun of someone, but to my bullies they were reasons enough to make fun of me.

I never did anything about it, because I didn't know what to do, so I just accepted the bullying.  I also never asked the question why?  Why were these girls picking on me? What did I do to them?  Why didn't they like me?  I never got the chance to ask.

Well, if you've ever wanted to confront your bully, this may be your inspiration to do so.  In a video from Upworthy.com, Mariah comes clean about being a bully and why she bullied her target, Jasmine.

Watching the video, I realized that sometimes people bully because they've been bullied themselves.  Every single person has a story to tell and you never know what other people are going through.  It's certainly not an excuse to bully someone, but it does give a little insight as to why.

As I've gotten older, I've learned how to stand up for myself. Unfortunately, bullying doesn't stop when school ends, it can happen at any stage in life. I also don't look at bullies in the same way anymore, instead, I feel empathy towards them. It's sad that whatever they have been through in their life has made them the way that they are towards others.

I tell myself that maybe they've had a tough upbringing, or a hard time in life or perhaps they are just unhappy for reasons I may never know. Again, it never makes it okay, but it's always helpful to understand it a little bit better.

Take a look at this video with Mariah and Jasmine.  I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
