A longer school day at New Bedford High School is getting closer to reality as the school commitee has agreed on extending the day by 33 minutes.

According to the Standard Times, the committee adopted the agreement on a 6-0 vote it still needs approval from the New Bedford Educatorrs Association.

"That would give our students the equivalent of an additional three weeks of instruction a year," Superintendent Pia Durkin said, according the the Standard Times. This is the first phase of many to begin the turnaround plan for the school.
