UPDATE (5:44 p.m.): New Bedford Police confirm to WBSM News that they did report to a call of shots fired at the intersection of South Street and Acushnet Avenue. Lt. Nathaniel Rodriguez says there were no injuries and no property damage was reported, and that the investigation at the scene is still very active. Detectives on scene, however, appeared to be examining damage to a silver Toyota near the scene. Several evidence marker cones had been placed on and around the vehicle, and one of the tires was flat with what appeared to be a hole in the side.  A fence at the corner of Acushnet Avenue and South Street was also appeared to have been struck by a bullet, and marked with an evidence cone.
