The Boston Red Sox have made their latest move in an attempt to bounce back from their third under-performing season in four years with the addition of Dave Dombrowski as the team's President of Baseball Operations, according to NESN.

Dombrowski, who surprisingly parted ways with the struggling Detroit Tigers shortly after the MLB trade deadline had been viewed as a possible fit for Boston, especially after longtime team president Larry Lucchino announced that he would step down from his position after the 2015 season.

The move seems like a solid fit for both sides as Boston needed a new leader in the front office and Dombrowski had been rumored to be looking for both a promotion and a raise when his Detroit deal ran out, after the season.

As a result of the deal with Dombrowski, Boston's current General Manager, Ben Cherington, has announced that he is resigning. First reports have said that Cherington will stay on for the time being, to assist Dombrowski in the organization's transition.

A press conference to formally introduce Dombrowski has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
