New Bedford is still one of the cities where we have to sort our recyclables.  There are no doubts that separating the paper, plastics and glass is more than some people want to deal with, so they don't recycle.

With New Bedford signing a new $48-million contract with ABC Disposal, we will be switching to single=stream recycling and automated trash pick system.   The company has already been doing this in places like Westport, Lakeville and Plymouth.

Beginning next spring, people who live in New Bedford can expect delivery of the new wheeled 64-gallon trash bins, and the 96-gallon recycling bins.  And those bins will take all the materials for recycling without us having to sort it.

Less trash and more recycling.  Thank you New Bedford for stepping into the 21st century with this issue.
