The Board of Elections certified 3,847 petition signatures to recall Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan last night. The signatures, which far exceeded the required 2,459, ignited the campaign to oust the mayor to move forward.

The City Council will officially notify Mayor Flanagan of the recall action, which will then give him five days to resign. However, according to The Herald News, Flanagan doesn't plan on resigning.

The mayor's recall legal team has until end of the day Monday to challenge the validity of the signatures and the recall process.

The Mayor will hold a press conference this afternoon at 3 to talk about the recall.

Flanagan is the center of an investigation after a freshman city councilor accused the Mayor of intimidating him with a gun.
