"This recipe was created by my brother years ago. We grew up eating Portuguese and American cuisine so he infused the ingredients and created a delicious and healthy meal which we especially enjoy during the winter." -Mary

Portuguese Goulash - serves 6

  • 2 lbs. beef chunks (chuck roast)seared in flour.
  • 1/2 cup water & 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 teaspooon salt
  • 1+1/2 teaspoons Portuguese spice called Temperos
  • 3 dried bay leaves
  • 1 minced clove of garlic

Put all the ingredients in a crock pot and coon low for 7-8 hours until meat is fork tender. Serve with a dollop of low fat sour cream and garnish with parsley. We serve it with mashed potatoes and a vegetable.
