First comes love, then comes marriage...then comes a pet? For some, yes...but Pope Francis doesn't agree.

Pope Francis has a message for married couples. He says in an article in Time Magazine, "four legged friends don't offer the same opportunities for love and godliness as raising a child."  Also making the bold prediction, that "staying childless will ultimately bring married couples nothing but the bitterness of loneliness."

I can't say that I agree with him to be honest.  I think everyone is different, and has different wants and needs in their life.   It's a reality that not every married couple in the world wants to have children, and some, even can't.  Plus, with the world population at 7 billion and continuously growing, overpopulation is certainly a concern.

It doesn't bother me either way, whether married people have children or not...it's an entirely personal decision, and to each their own, right?  If being a parent makes you happy, that's great!  If being child-free makes you happy, that's great too!  Different people with different likes/wants/needs is what makes the world go 'round.

Staying childless will ultimately bring married couples nothing but the bitterness of loneliness.

Plus, in a response to Pope Francis, I know plenty of married people who don't have children and are very happy.  I also know married people with children who aren't happy, so everyone's life situation is different.  Imagine how boring the world would be if we were all exactly the same?

What do you think?  Would all married couples be happier with children?  Take the poll here:
