You could say the cat's out of the bag, but apparently it never was in one. Zing!

Last week, we heard about a cat in a garbage bag being thrown from a moving car, and Loren was furious with the story, saying, "This is why I like animals more than people."

The woman that supposedly witnessed the incident on Veteran's Day brought the cat to police. Edison the cat was then taken to a North Attleborough animal shelter, where it is being cared for by Animal Control Officer Karen Fontneau.

NBC 10 is now reporting the story was a lie.

The woman who found the cat, not Loren Petisce, apparently discovered the little guy while on her work break. She wasn't able to keep Edison herself, so she figured reporting the cat-in-the-bag incident to police would help get Edison to a shelter on the holiday.

The woman, who isn't being identified, later admitted the truth to police. She's now facing charges, because filing a false police report is frowned upon in the law enforcement community.

Edison was in rough shape when he arrived at the animal shelter, but with so much local interest in the story, Fontneau believes he'll be adopted by a good family in no time.
