An Acushnet woman is injured after a driver allegedly high on drugs struck her car near the New Bedford/Fairhaven bridge.

New Bedford Police say the accident took place early Wednesday afternoon on Popes Island when 26-year-old Corey Dunn of Somerset was driving east on Route 6 over the bridge when he veered across several lanes of traffic into the parking lot of the Fairhaven True Value Hardware store where he struck a car that was waiting to exit the parking lot.

The 54-year-old woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital after she complained of leg pain.

Police found marijuana and heroin in Dunn's possession.

Dunn is charged with operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and possession of heroin.
