The attempted abductions that reportedly happened in Fall River this week are apparently false and police may file charges against the alleged victim.

According to ABC6 News, the latest abduction attempt that reportedly happened Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m. near Division and Grant Streets was in fact false.

Fall River Police have held a press conference saying the 60-year-old woman who claimed she was nearly pulled into a white conversion-type van was not telling the truth about what happened and after re-interviewing her say she suffers from mental issues and anxiety.

The woman was re-interviewed after another woman came to the police station with the van depicted in released surveillance photos and said she drove down Division Street during the time of the incident. Police interviewed her and she was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Police say the investigation into the alleged abduction is over but they will continue to investigate whether to file charges against the woman.

This most recent incident happens on the heals of two attempted abductions in Fall River earlier this week, though police do not say if they are still investigating those abduction attempts.
