UPDATE 2:54PM - All is normal at the Roosevelt Middle School in the South End, after the discovery of a bomb threat forced students and faculty to evacuate.

New Bedford Detectives Captain Steven Vicente tells WBSM News a note claiming there was a bomb in the building was discovered in a bathroom stall late this morning.

Police were immediately notified and the building was evacuated while the building was searched. Vicente says the search yielded negative results, and students were back in school within two hours.

Police are investigating the origin of the threat

Original Story - New Bedford Police are on scene in the South End at the Roosevelt Middle School.

The school was the target of an apparent bomb threat early this afternoon.

Police say the school has been evacuated and a check of the building is being performed.

The origin of the threat is unknown at this time.
