UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Christopher Turner of Wareham. Police say the investigation of the incident is ongoing, despite a lack of witness cooperation. Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting incident that occurred on Nicholas Drive at approximately 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 2nd is encouraged to call the Wareham PD Detective Division at (508) 295- 1206, or to use the anonymous “Text-A-Tip” application that can be accessed through www.warehampolice.com.   

On Thursday, March 2, 2017 at approximately  8:00 pm, Wareham Police Department officers and detectives responded to the area of 30-35 Nicholas Drive for the report of gunshots heard outside in the thickly settled neighborhood. While responding to the call, officers learned that a male had been transported in a private vehicle to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, seeking treatment for two gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigation of the incident has revealed that a 33-year-old Wareham man was shot at least twice by a yet unknown assailant. The victim was uncooperative at the hospital, thus information is very limited at this time with regard to details of the event, including the identity of the shooter and any motives.

The victim, who is in stable condition at this time, has been transported to a Rhode Island hospital for further treatment. The victim’s identity has been intentionally withheld at this time.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing, and updates will be provided when further information becomes available.
