Fairhaven Police and the Fire Department found what turned out to be an explosive device in the driveway of a local home.

The discovery was made Wednesday morning around 8:30 in the driveway of a home on Jeanette Street. According to Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza, the device was a plastic bottle containing an unknown liquid, hidden under a wheel barrow.

The Mass. State Police Bomb Squad determined the bottle was dangerous.  It was later detonated without incident.

Following an investigation, Police determined the bottle was placed in the driveway by 18 year old James Dillon who lives nearby.  He was arrested by Fairhaven Police and charged wth placing an explosive device upon property.

Kobza says Dillon admitted to putting the bottle in the driveway the night before.
