A 2 year old child was attacked by the family pit bull in Rhode Island earlier this week. According to reports, the dog was laying on a blanket, and the child pulled it out from under him which caused the dog to attack.

The dog bit the child in the face. The 2 year old boy was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with puncture wounds to the face. So, the discussions again pop up about the safety of this breed of dogs. Some say pit bulls are a product of how they are raised, but in this case, this was apparently a family dog that was never raised in a rough way, but still caused major damage to this child.

Was this just an unfortunately accident that could happen with any dog, or is this behavior due to the fact that it was a pit bull?
