It is move in day for teachers and staff at Fairhaven's new Wood School. After spending the past school year at the Oxford School, the Wood School is reaping the benefits of a brand new 24 million dollar educational facility...a majority of which is being paid for with state funding.

While the first day of school doesn't begin until after Labor Day, the staff is busily readying the school to get it set for learning.

The school features state of the art amenities including interactive projectors in each classroom. Wood School students will, for the first time, have spaces specifically designed for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech and language. Exciting new elements added to the play area include: a brand new basketball court, a walking track, an obstacle course, a play house and drums. The school was strategically designed around "Everybody's Playground"...a community funded effort that built a playground that has handicapped access for children with physical limitations.

The Wood School will hold an open house on Friday, August 30th from 3pm-7pm and Saturday, August 31st from 10am-2pm. The community is welcome to walk the halls and check out the brand new school.
