It's kind of bittersweet. For the last 33 years, Phil and Celeste Paleologos have been a part of the Southcoast area and New Bedford, feeding us in the morning, on the weekends, and even select nights on Fridays and Saturdays. It'll be weird not seeing the Shawmut Diner around. It closes for good today.

For lunch was an easy choice for my family, I took Deb and our son John for our last meal at the Shawmut Diner, and I'm sure it was as packed as it was this past weekend. Think about it. If you've lived in New Bedford longer than 10 years, chances are you've had breakfast or lunch at the Shawmut Diner. My Dad has been bringing me there since I was my son's age, and I was happy to do the same with my son.

The mood was very emotional for everyone at the Shawmut Diner, especially for Phil and Celeste. In the blink of an eye, 33 years have past and they have gained incredible friendships for years to come. Goodbye Shawmut Diner, I will miss you, and getting my turkey clubs there.
