FALL RIVER — The Fall River City Clerk says that a petition to recall Mayor Jasiel Correia has been dropped off at her office.

City Clerk Allison Bouchard tells The Herald News that Fall River resident Dawn Saurette submitted the petition with the 10 required signatures.

The petition must now be notarized, and then it will be sent to the Board of Elections, where the signatures must be certified that each is a registered voter.

According to the report, the recall group will then have 20 days to obtain signatures of five percent of Fall River's registered voters.

If and when the signatures are collected and certified, Mayor Correia will have five days to resign from office. If he chooses not to, the City Council would set a recall election.
