New owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox announced a proposal that asks Rhode Island tax payers for $4 million a year for new stadium. 

Team president Jim Skeffington revealed that the new stadium would cost 80 million dollars. Their proposal requests that taxpayers contribute a total four million dollars. The proposal also included artists renderings of what the stadium would look like were also available.

Skeffington said “Our proposal represents a good faith effort to propose a way for the state and the city to help support the new owners in their efforts to keep the team in Rhode Island”.

The new owners would initially put up the 85 million dollars. The owners would look for state and cities subsidies to return the costs. The group would sublease the stadium back for 1 million a year, making the net 4 million in total for tax payers.

According to WPRI, They also want a 30-year lease on the land which would mean $1 a year from the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission and Brown University.

After an approved 30-state lease, the total rent would equal up to 150 million dollars.

The stadium would have about 10,000-seat three-story ballpark unrevealed Wednesday would be at the intersection of Dyer, Eddy and Ship streets on the I-195.

The owners hope to have 100 main events at the stadium a year, this would include 72 minor-league ballgames as well as concerts and local collegiate sporting events from Brown and Bryant football. The team are  also considering an event venue modeled on the EMC Club at Fenway Park.
