The Pawtucket Red Sox open their 2018 season this Friday night at McCoy Stadium. The Triple-A team takes on the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 7:05 in the first of a six-game home stand.

The PawSox have been the International League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox since 1973. McCoy Stadium is a great place to watch a game, and the ballpark is the oldest in all of Triple-A, according to the team's Facebook page.

The longest game in professional baseball history was played at McCoy in 1981. It was suspended at 4:09 in the morning after 32 innings, and was resumed several weeks later. It took the PawSox 33 inning to finally beart the Rochester Red Wings by a score of 3-2.

Legends who have played at McCoy for the Sox include David Ortiz, Roger Clemens, Jim Rice, Mo Vaughn, Nomar Garciaparra and Jon Lester. PawSox management feels very optomistic about the 2018 season because of a strong pitching rotation and a solid bullpen.
