Some Fairhaven residents believe Paul Revere may have crafted the school bell at the Oxford School in Fairhaven.

The results seemingly concluded that the bell  is one of the first bells made by Paul Revere.

According to Southcoast Today, the first eleven bells made by Paul revere had his name inscribed on the bell. The bell located at the former Oxford School has no name, but a list from the Revere House Association says the 12th bell made by Paul Revere was ordered in 1794 by the Second Church of Christ in New Bedford. The original meetinghouse was in the Phoenix Hall Block...the current location of the store Euro.

Fairhaven records indicate the bell remained there until 1915 even though the church had moved. Sometime around 1915, the bell was purchased by the Fairhaven School Committee for the Oxford School.

The town is in the process of selling the Oxford School.  Some residents are trying to convince selectman not to sell the bell with the building and to display the bell in another location in town.
