A month ago Paul Pierce announced that this season will be his last. On Wednesday he said he hopes he can walk away as a member of the Boston Celtics.

Pierce told SiriusXM NBA Radio, "I think I'll always be remembered as a Celtic. I had all my glory days, all my prime was pretty much as a Boston Celtic. I think I owe the fans and I owe myself that much, just to be able to put that uniform on one more time and go out that way, say I retired a Boston Celtic."

Justin Termine tweeted out the news.

As a die-hard Celtics fan, I couldn't be happier to hear that "The Truth," wants to retire in green. Pierce was the face of the franchise for a generation of Celtics fans and accomplished A LOT while he was here.

He's scored the second most career points in Celtics history to go along with his NBA Finals MVP trophy from their run in 2008. That's only the tip of the iceberg for Pierce in Boston.

I for one can't wait to see him throw on that white and green jersey one last time.
