With the team's mandatory minicamp coming to a close Thursday, the New England Patriots, and their fans, can now set their sights on the team's training camp.

July 27 is the report date for the team and, according to NESN.com, the team's first practice open to the public is scheduled for July 28.

As a fan, who attends at least one practice a year, I can say that they are a really cool way to spend a summer day. The best part about the practices are that they are free, which always helps the bank account.

It's also a great way to see the players and watch some drills, to see how things are coming along for the team. Plus, if you bring a pen and some gear you can try to get some autographs from the players and coaches.

While the practices don't run too long, you can make a full day of the trip up to Gillette by spending time at Patriot Place, which has tons of shops and restaurants.

All in all, going to a Pats training camp practice is a great, cheap and exciting way for any Patriots fan to spend a day this summer.
