The New England Patriots brought 14-year veteran and former Indianapolis Colt Reggie Wayne into town today for a visit and physical, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The move to bring in Wayne for a visit shouldn't shock anyone as the team has multiple question marks at the receiver position, due to injuries.

Two key members of last season's receiving unit, top option Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell, have both been sidelined for most of the summer with lower body injuries. Also the injury bug has bitten 2013 second-round pick Aaron Dobson, who is suffering from a hamstring injury as he tries to prove that in his third year he can be the player New England Expected him to be when he was selected so early just two years ago.

The Patriots also lost fourth receiver option Brian Tyms to a potentially serious foot injury, during joint practices with the Saints this week, while veteran roster option Brandon Gibson left yesterday's preseason game against New Orleans with an apparent knee injury.

Wayne has played his whole career with Indianapolis since being the Colts' first round pick, 30th overall, in the 2001 NFL Draft. Over 14 seasons, he has played in 211 regular season games, made 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and scored 82 touchdowns.

Although he has had a successful career, including six pro bowl appearances, Wayne suffered a tough season last year as he dealt with multiple injuries and had his lowest season production since 2002, according to ESPN.

While Wayne did take a physical Sunday, no deal has been announced between the receiver and New England. For years Bill Belichick's team has been known for bringing aging stars that are looking for one more shot at a championship into the mix. At the very least, a deal between the two sides could give New England depth at the position and another strong veteran presence in the locker room.
