Parking Fines Around Fenway Are Going Up

Heading to Fenway Park this season to see the Sox? Make sure you aren't parking illegally when you go, cause the fines are going up...way up.

Opening Day for the Red Sox at Fenway is tonight, so if you're heading up to the game against the Nationals there are certain areas where you are now definitely NOT going to

want to park.

Resident-only spots around the ballpark have been popular spots for game goers, but this season the price to park there without a resident sticker has more than doubled. The new ordinance raises the fine for illegally parking in a resident-only area from $40 to $100.

City Councilor Josh Zakim, who sponsored the ordinance, told the Boston Herald that the rule will help "restore the parking balance" to neighborhoods around the ballpark.

The increased fines apply to two hours before game time and two hours after the game ends.

So this season make sure you either take the T in or have plenty of time to park, cause the games are expensive enough without adding $100 to the day with a parking ticket!
