One of the toughest things about going somewhere is figuring out where to park. Do you have to leave an hour early to find parking, are you going to get a ticket -or worse- towed?  Am I going to have to park a mile away and walk?!  We know what it's like so we've done our best to make it easy for everyone. Here are the details on parking for the Sun of a Beach Festival next weekend.

Parking Outside of Fort Taber Park
Just across the street from the Fort Taber gates, we have two parking lots reserved for event goers only. One lot is on the corner of Hudson Street and East Rodney French Blvd and the second lot is located right beside it.

Parking Inside of Fort Taber
New Bedford Residents can pay $1 for a one-day parking pass.  They must have a New Bedford address shown on their driver’s license or ID. Non-residents from the surrounding communities including Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Westport, Mattapoisett, Marion, Rochester, Acushnet, Freetown, Lakeville and Taunton can pay $5 for a one-day parking pass. Single day passes for the Fort can be purchased right at the gate of Fort Taber.

Where NOT to Park
We cannot stress enough that there is NO PARKING on Portland, Hudson or Seymour Streets.  These are resident-only parking areas and vehicles without a sticker to park are subject to being ticketed or towed. As a courtesy to our neighbors, please use the approved parking areas or the legal street parking along Brock Avenue. (These areas are highlighted in red on the map below.)

Event Shuttles
We know its a long haul from the parking areas to the Fort itself and we want to make it easy for everyone.  To do that, we'll do event pick-ups at 3 high-traffic locations (noted with starred pick-up locations and green routes on the above map) where street parking is readily available. The Shuttle will start running at 1:30p and do a final pick-up at 5:00p. It will start up again at the end of the event to bring folks back to their cars.

1. Brock Avenue at the corner of Portland Street. You can wait in the park and we'll pick you up from there.

2. Freedom Blvd across from the Victory Park Pond. Wait along the stone wall.

3. The corner of East Rodney French Blvd. and Hudson Street. If you park in our event parking lots you can walk in or wait for a ride.

Please allow for 20 minutes or so between pick-ups at each location.
