Parents of New Bedford middle school students are being urged to attend a community forum Wednesday night.

The meeting with Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin and other officials will center on improving the climate in the city's middle schools, especially after recent events involving student fights at Normandin and the high school.

Neighborhoods United President Jerry Pinto says the forum will focus on a very crucial component.

School officials want to hear firsthand the concerns of parents of middle school students. The forum takes place at 6:30 Wednesday night at Normandin Middle School in the north end.
