DARTMOUTH - Dartmouth emergency crews were called to the scene of a serious crash in the vicinity of 413 Cross Road Monday night.

The crash took place just west of Faunce Corner Road around 9 p.m. as a 2014 Ford F350 apparently lost control, crashing through a telephone pole and colliding with a stone wall, coming to rest on it's roof.

The driver, a 43-year-old Fall River man, was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family. There were no other occupants in the car.

A medflight had been called to land near the scene to transport the victim to a hospital. However, the call was cancelled due to heavy extrication efforts. The driver was declared dead on the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Eversource crews were on the scene to make necessary repairs to the pole that had been caused by the crash.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
