Last July a young woman had to have her leg amputated due to a moped accident in Oak Bluffs that's now resulting in a law suit.

Last year we reported to you about an accident that occurred on July 30th, 2016. Noelle Lambert and Kelly Moran's lives changed forever. The two women, who were 19 at the time, got into a serious moped accident while visiting Martha's Vineyard. Lambert and Moran both suffered serious leg injuries, which resulted in Noelle losing part of her leg in the accident and Kelly being hospitalized. This effected their lived dramatically due to the fact that they were both Division 1 Lacrosse players at UMass Lowell. While driving the moped last summer Noelle lost control and crashed into a large dump truck.

According to The Cape Cod Times, Martha's Vineyard has specific by-laws regarding moped operation that were not being enforced. The town may now be facing a lawsuit due to the help from a group called, "Mopeds Are Dangerous Action Committee" or MADAC. MADAC found the by-law violations and filed the initial complaints. The complaint was heard on March 28th and April 25th will hold the decision about whether or not the rental businesses could have their licenses revoked.

Are mopeds too dangerous to be rented to inexperienced drivers?
