Mayor Jasiel Correia wants Fall River to enter the advertising business.

Discussions about selling advertising on city owned New Bedford buildings are already underway.  Now, Mayor Correia is looking to adopt the idea in Fall River.  The city would sell advertisements on billboards located on city property.  Correia is getting creative.  He's also suggesting city trash cans and vehicles would also be great platforms for advertising.  Correia believes that Fall River stands to earn several hundred thousand dollars a year in advertising.

The Mayor said the ads would be placed in strategic areas and promised that the city would not be blanketed in advertising.  City Councilor Linda Pereira told NBC 10 the proposal is interesting, but she would need more information before standing behind it.

Fun 107 trash cans in Fall River?  It could happen.
