As I learned for the first time this year, Christmas gets busy when you have a little one. So much to do, so little time...but who am I supposed to get gifts for?

I took my daughter for her six month check up recently and as I was leaving the doctor's office another mother was coming in with her toddler and a box of gifts for the office.

Oh yes, a whole box.

This woman appeared to have made some sort of Christmas cookies and put together about a dozen hand wrapped gift bags of them...clearly for the doctors and nurses in the office.

As soon as I saw her my new found mom-guilt quickly kicked in...was I supposed to get my pediatrician a gift?

Having never bought my own doctor a gift for the holidays, this thought had not even crossed my mind until I saw this woman. And my whole ride home I wonder if I was a total jerk for not getting the pediatrician anything...especially with an appointment the week of Christmas!

I did get my daughter's daycare providers gifts and sent a Christmas card to the doctors and nurses at the NICU, who took such good care of her during those first few scary days in the hospital.

But should the pediatrician been on the list as well?

Just who am I supposed to get gifts for now that I have a kid? Who in her life needs to be added to my holiday shopping list from here on out? Who do you get gifts for from your kids?
